Songs of Soaring Birds are my fifteen bird songs set to poems by poet philosopher Kristján Hreinsson, written for voice, piano, and cello and arranged by composer Thórir Baldursson. The song cycle is an ode to life and to the beauty of the heavens. It was premiered at Salurinn in Kópavogur in 2014.

The cycle was performed again at Harpa in Reykjavík in 2026 by Hildigunnur Einarsdóttir (mezzo), Bryndís Halla Gylfadóttir (cello), and Hrönn Thráinsdóttir (piano). The composer briefly introduced each song. The poetry was projected onto a screen behind the stage. The concert was filmed and awaits its premiere on television. The sheet music and the poems, also in English translation, were published 2019.
